Autumn/Winter 2025
"The Tiny Flutter Made a Big Flivver"
If I jump, will you jump with me?
In 1913, Tiny Broadwick jumped out of an airplane. She was the first woman to do so, tumbling towards Earth in bloomers and a ruffled parachute. Her revolutionary fearlessness was coupled with sweet style: Flowers and bows and frilly parasols made up Tiny's trousseau.
The girls in the sky are the girls of our dreams for Autumn/Winter 2025. They are the skydivers of the 1910s and the female pilots of the WASPs and the Night Witches of the 1940s and 1950s, women in fighter jets and pin curls cruising for freedom. It’s about their wardrobes—both girlish with pinafores and rounded collars and vixenish with plump bombers and cinched waists—but also their sensibility. In the sky, you are brave, you are fearless, and you step up to do what’s right. We want all the girls of the world to be free and fearless.
The Second Summer of Love, which brought Acid House raving across England in the late 1980s, splashes a sense of community and colour across the collection. Plastic beads and charms, rave badges and bracelets and the collective ecstasy that resonated through the warehouses of Manchester, Nottingham, and London’s outskirts inspires a rebellious brightness this season. Classic carabiner skirts have clear belts, pins and patches with party slogans are dotted across jeans and wool topcoats, and a flirty minidress is over-adorned with pony bead patterns. It’s about having fun, holding hands, and believing in togetherness again.
The two moods of the collection clash in unexpected ways. Neon greens and pinks are airbrushed on lace frocks, a marriage of 1910s silhouettes with 1980s spirit. "Don't talk to me, I'm flying right now" is our recurring slogan on mesh tees, badges, and accessories. The butterfly, a symbol of aviation and of rave-iation, appears as kiss-lock fastenings, beaded embellishments, and hand-crocheted detailing on dresses and tops. Graphics of cartoon women inspired by airbrushed babes on airplane wings, sexy pin-ups from vintage magazines, and cartoon girlies on rave flyers come together in a new clique of illustrated girls who appear on tees, charms, and dresses. Kantha quilted jackets and blankets feature Lady Luck and are made with an artisanal women's collective in India.
