There was a time when the worst thing a woman could be was a witch. Maybe that time is still. But at Chopova Lowena, harnessing your magic is what makes you a beloved and special CL girl. 

For Spring/Summer 2027, we honour the witches, the enchantresses, the nymphs, and the ghouls who haunt and protect our spirits. We welcome the supernatural into our lane, living alongside magic rather than rejecting it. 

Eastern European pagan spirits like the Samodivi, delicate nymphs with flowing hair, Morana, the wintry witch drowned at springtime; Kikimora, a female horse spirit that haunts dreams; Rusalka, a dangerous water spirit; and Baba Yaga, the crone witch, appear in our coven. These spectres are recognised through their long capes of the Samodivi, which would cover their skinless backs, or the sharp triangular cutting techniques on the skirts and sleeves of Kikimora. These female supernatural beings connected much of the Slavic region in pre-Christianic times, their lore mutating across the region. We reinterpret their power and gravitas throughout sensual black bodices, tiers of ruffled lace and beading, and a brooding energy charged through the collection. We are friendly, but we are tough. 

Otherworldly beings like the Beast and the Vampir also infiltrate the collection. We continue to upcycle our deadstock fabrics, adding faux fur, to create beastly silhouettes of protection. Hoodies, cloaks, and tees are adorned with the symbols of the Vampir, with contrast stitching and jagged edges. 

The sorceresses and spirits are in league with another sporty muse, the 1950s female bowler Marion Ladewig. Stepping out against expectation, Ludwig became a champion bowler in an era when women were supposed to be housewives. With her pin curls and big swings, she inspires retro bowling shirts, a series of stripe jersey lace-up leggings and dresses, and cotton poplin boxer shorts and trousers. A collaboration with Dr. Martens brings together her stompy spirit with our signature tartans and faux fur details. Most importantly we welcome two overprotected dogs brought to the runway by Lloyds pet insurance. 

Together, on the runway, the witches and the wiccans reflect the women we adore: haunted by our passions and ready to strike.
